Company

Business Integrity was founded in 2000 to commercialize unique contract creation technology originating from Artificial Intelligence research at Imperial College, London and Edinburgh University. It is the subject of two granted US patents with thirteen applications pending.

Focus

We focus exclusively on the processes of on-line creation, delivery, and organization of legally safe contracts and agreements. We enable specialist lawyers to capture their contract expertise and make this reusable by other lawyers and by business people.

Our value proposition is that (i) compliant contracts, from the simple to the complex, can be produced by non-specialists in a fraction of the time required by lawyers using traditional manual drafting methods, and (ii) lawyers are freed to focus on non-standard and exceptional matters which cannot progress without their expert knowledge.

Standards

Leveraging familiar IT infrastructure has always been our aim. Since 99% of the world’s lawyers use Microsoft Word, our product, DealBuilder, is Word based with web delivery of generated Word documents and optional Microsoft SharePoint based process management functionality. DealBuilder is fully compliant with all applicable major standards, and has configurable application interfaces for exchanging data with other applications.

Development Strategy

Our objective was to develop a product family that would be trusted by lawyers.

Four of the six largest global law firms are based in London. The large London law firms have made the greatest investment in standard forms, precedents, and contract templates, which lend themselves to automation. To satisfy the most demanding legal requirements we based ourselves in London within walking distance of these firms. This gave us two advantages: 1) we were able to include firms such as Clifford Chance and Linklaters as part of our extended design team, and 2) we could employ RAD/JAD (rapid application development/joint application development) techniques to evolve a product to match actual customer requirements with maximum precision.

Support

A key objective is to ensure that we release highly stable products through extensive and exhaustive testing. Our customers will testify to this. As a consequence, support requirements are almost exclusively related to ‘how to use’ questions. To address this we deliver structured and well documented formal training, self-install software, telephone support and on-site implementation assistance. We have an outstanding reputation for support. Ask our customers.

Marketing Strategy

Our first objective was to establish DealBuilder's legal credentials with leading law firms in the UK and US such as Clifford Chance, Wilson Sonsini, Linklaters, Littler Mendelson, Allen&Overy, Stikeman Elliott, and other leading firms.

Our second objective was to leverage DealBuilder's law firm credentials to establish DealBuilder's safe-self-service credentials with the law departments of leading international corporations such as Cisco Systems, Microsoft, AXA, Cadence Design Systems, Credit Suisse, PepsiCo, and Henkel Corporation.

Having achieved these objectives, we are now focusing on accelerating the sales contracting process, particularly for high tech corporations.

Product Strategy

We believe that the interests of our customers and of the company are best served by leveraging what we already do uniquely well based on the feedback from our leading customers and advisors.
